Yes, octopuses, as well as their cousins squisd and cuttlefish (collectively known as Cephalopods) have rectangular pupils.
The reason of rectangular pupils is the process called convergent evolution… which takes place when two unrelated species develop very similar body parts or structures, while being totally independent from each other.
The most popular comparison is the development of wings among the birds and among the bats (which are mammals). 🙂
