Hello GreenZoners,
It have been a while since we had for you last Eco News. GZEcoQuiz is so exciting that we are posting almost only about it, but GreenZoner.com is most of all focused on ecology and we have to talk with you about such an important things like UN climat change conference.
On Monday (11th November), the UN climate talks opened in Warsaw (Poland). What all those important people from all around the world are talking about?
There are few important question:
What needs to happen to help poor countries cope with the challenges of climate change? How will we pay for a greener future? Which countries are funding mitigation and adaptation efforts – and where is that money going? And what are the particular challenges facing the developing world?
And some interesting information, like this one:
The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) said on Wednesday that this year is the seventh warmest since records began in 1850, with a trend of extreme weather events and the impact of storms such as Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines aggravated by rising sea levels.
“This year once again continues the underlying, long-term trend,” towards higher temperatures caused by global warming, WMO secretary general Michel Jarraud said.
Among extremes have been Super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the most intense storms in history that smashed into the Philippines last Friday.
President Benigno Aquino said local officials had overstated the loss of life, which was closer to 2,000 or 2,500 than the 10,000 previously estimated. His comments, however, drew scepticism from some aid workers.
Other extremes this year have included record heatwaves in Australia and floods from Sudan to Europe. Japan had its warmest summer on record.
It doesn’t sound good, guys! Keep green!
